Mandala (Sankrit for "circle"), in Hinduism, Buddhism,
Christianity as well as in the New Age era is a diagram used as a focus and guide for
meditation. Each mandala represents the universe pictorially. The individual imaginatively
enters the mandala, focusing successively on each of its stages and absorbing the logic of
its form as the individual approaches the center. Practically every major tantra has one
or more associated mandalas, each with specific sets of deities or abstract symbols.
Mandalas have been perceived as coming completely from Eastern
culture. This isn't so. If you look at the Rose windows in the churches, the
Labyrinth and its structure and so on, you can find it in the root of every culture.
The worlds law is movement, the centers law is
serenity. Life in this world is a continues movement around a center foundation. We live
from the center even if we cant perceive it. We are always seeking a center. A
mandala is a basic circular design that symbolizes the Universe and totality or wholeness.
By drawing mandalas is yet another way to awaken your
spirituality. There are many sites that you can find on mandalas and the beautiful work
that is done or you can do your own as I have here in this web site.
By using Mandalas with accompanying affirmations, practice
exercises, visualizations and meditations that are the focal point of the mandala, will
give the individual more expanded ability to integrate, heal, and transform to the higher
levels.
The mandala can be used purely on its own without any other
aids, or you may wish to use the visualizations etc. listed above. There are exercises,
visualizations and meditations that are for self healing, awakening your inner creativity,
and centering your inner being with the greater Good/Universe/God/Goddess.
To use a Mandala, pick one that stands out from the others for
you visually. Focus on the mandala that is the particular aspect you wish to heal,
transform or activate the higher levels of awareness and creativity.
To attain maximum benefits from the mandala, look at it and
focus for about 5 minutes. 4 x a day. You can also have by your bed, on your desk, on a
mirror, or in a room where you spend much of your time so you can glance at it throughout
the day. Do make sure they are placed in areas that you can easily view them and do your
practice or exercises. They can be also laminated to protect them from damage.
You can also place many of them of walls that you are drawn to,
using a different one that draws you at that time. they assist in bringing the higher
vibrations of the Universe and Unconditional Love to you.
Remember the mandalas are "tools" to open up your own
higher levels of attunement, creativity, spirituality and potential.
Mandalas can:
* Help you balance yourself, and your brain
* They support you in Grounding yourself
* Helps in re-establishing energies from the earth
and heaven
* Helps to connect you with your inner seeing/third
eye and with your physical body attuning.
